Onyx
27.2.26 - 28.3.26
A group exhibition featuring Alberte Harboe Westergaard, Sophie Z.S. Suaning & Yves Scherer
Having long been linked to grounding and resilience, the Onyx is often seen as a symbol of endurance and inner strength. In ancient spiritual traditions, it was believed to protect against negative forces, while in medieval Europe its deep black surface became associated with sorrow, death, and the unknown. Across cultures, it has been carried as a talisman, something that could both shield and steady the person who wore it.
Holding these layered and sometimes conflicting meanings, onyx suggests both strength and vulnerability. Dense and quietly reflective, it asks to be looked at slowly.
Bringing together artists with distinct practices, the exhibition foregrounds individual approaches through works that touch on different aspects of shared human experience. Moving between restraint and immediacy, it considers how tenderness and intensity can exist side by side without settling into fixed meanings.
