Carl-Oskar Jonsson
Carl-Oskar Jonsson (b. 1991) is a Swedish artist working across drawing, sculpture, and text. Rooted in everyday observations and encounters, his practice explores human behaviour and the subtle dynamics of social interactions, often focusing on situations that appear suspended between what has happened and what is yet to unfold. Moving between the documentary and the staged, his works take on an almost cinematic quality, where gestures, objects, and seemingly insignificant details become fragments of larger, unresolved narratives.
Jonsson lives and works in Berlin, Germany, and Huskvarna, Sweden. He holds an MFA from Malmö Art Academy (2019) and recently completed a residency at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris, France. Selected exhibitions include Industries, Gislaveds Konsthall (Gislaved, Sweden, 2025); A Needy but Good Friend, Louis Reed (New York, USA, 2024); Direct, oxfordberlin (Berlin, Germany, 2022); and Tekstvevnad, OSL Contemporary (Oslo, Norway, 2019).
