Nicolai Olesen
Nicolai Olesen (b. 1998) lives and works in Hamburg, where he is currently pursuing his MFA at the Hochschule für bildende Künste. Working across painting and sculpture, he is interested in reappropriating iconic art-historical references to generate new motifs through a conceptual use of color and material. His works often flirt with the aesthetics of graphics or signage, giving the impression that they might serve a functional purpose.
Olesen has previously exhibited at Chess Club, Hamburg; the Apple, Zürich; ISCP, New York; Goldsmiths, London; Neuer Essener Kunstverain, Essen; Isaak Fangel, Copenhagen and CHART Art Fair 2026, Copenhagen.
